Back in the blog business whanau after an extended summer break.

Muzz and I had the BEST week ever at my favourite pet-friendly in Lyall Bay, Wellington last week, the perfect end to my long  Christmas break.

The weather was superb as Wellington weather so often is. Don’t give air to all that fake news about Wellington’s terrible weather, it’s just not true.

In honour of my being in town, the city notched up a record-breaking 29 degrees on one of the days. Even with a beach across the road and a gentle breeze coming in from Cook Strait, that was way too hot, even for a valley boy like me.

Did you know we can’t really sweat and that’s why we pant?

Generally, we’re pretty smart and we’ll find a cooler place to sleep if it’s getting too hot, but ice in our water bowls, a nice short summer haircut and walks in the early morning or late evening all help.

Remember our little paws can burn on hot pavements and hot sand, and as much as we’ll want to jump in the car and come with you to the dairy, if the mercury’s heading north, don’t take us.

Stay safe.

Love and light.
