Don’t forget about us

As New Zealand gets ready to ShakeOut this Thursday, a plea from Baxter on behalf of his four-legged friends, “Don’t forget about us.

We’re being reminded by the Ministry for Primary Industries that our animals are our responsibility and we need to include them in our emergency planning and preparation. We know most of them would protect us with their lives if they could.

But just what do we need to be thinking of, and preparing for in the event of a major earthquake?

How do we know if our pets are stressed and how do we help them?

What to do when the water is contaminated, the ground unsafe for exercise and who do we contact for help if our pet has fled or is injured?

Baxter’s recommending you check the MPI website: https://www.mpi.govt.nz/dmsdocument/26530-Animals-affected-by-earthquake-Advice-for-livestock-lifestyle-block-horse-and-pet-owners

Find the answers to questions you probably haven’t even thought about as we prepare to ShakeOut on Thursday, and make a plan for your pets.

Baxter says Thank you
