My mate Mahe

Does good stuff.

Not for her simply ‘living the life of Riley’ – No she’s a working dog.

She goes to school to help young readers and visits hospitals , goes tramping , stands guard against Possums in the vegie garden and has even been tasked with tossing the family’s teenage boys out of bed at times.

Mahe is a genuine registered pet therapy dog.

She’s a Schnoodle who ‘s celebrating her 10th birthday this month.

Her Dad’s a retired farmer who initially had no time for dogs other than his working farm dogs. He called them D’s (part dogs) and reluctantly agreed to let her in to the family circle.

Mahe, with her big infectious personality quickly won him over of course and is now putty in his paws.

She lives in Wanaka these days but for many years lived in Wellington where she visited Wellington and Keneperu Hospitals to visit re-hab patients.

In Wanaka she goes to local schools where she has reluctant readers read to her and when Covid restrictions allow visits dementia patients in aged care homes.

Her easygoing friendly manner also wins her friends at the local brewery in Wanaka when she visits.

Mahe’s Mum says she’s a real people dog who easily connects with everyone.  A bit like me don’t you think?

So Happy Birthday Mahe
