A plea from Baxter - Don’t forget the animals!
Baxter wants you to know it’s not just humans toughing it out in the current tight economic market.
The New Zealand SPCA’s reporting an increase in the number of animals being impacted by the rising cost of living.
They’re appealing for help to feed, rehabilitate and provide homes for the rising number of animals in their care.
- You can donate - it costs more these days to feed the roughly 31 thousand animals they help care for in New Zealand every year.
- You can volunteer your time or skills. https://www.spca.nz/how-you-can-help/volunteer/positions-available
- You can foster animals needing a temporary home. https://www.spca.nz/volunteer/foster
- You could adopt an animal whose former family can no longer afford to keep them. https://www.spca.nz/adopt
- You can volunteer from home and get the kids involved too. Find out how at your nearest SPCA centre. https://www.spca.nz/about#spca-centre-locations
- Maybe you have skills in the running of events and fundraising. https://www.spca.nz/volunteer/charity-work#event
Baxter asks you to please do what you can and not forget the animals falling victim to the pressures of everyday life at the moment. Even if it’s as simple as donating your old towels and blankets, every little bit helps.
