Baxter reviews the Lyall Bay pet-friendly holiday home.
Life’s a Beach according to Baxter, and one of his favourite beaches is Wellington’s Lyall Bay.
People, dogs, airport action, what's not to love when you’re a gregarious little four-legged fluffball.
Along with his dad Murray, he’s had many holidays across the road from the popular Wellington beach staying in the Marram pet-friendly holiday home.
Here’s his review:
I own this place. From the minute we roll up and park the Mustang the fun begins. First of course is the obligatory sniff-around.
I mean I need to know who’s been here before me.
The big backyard is fully fenced so Dad leaves the kitchen door open so I can head outside whenever I need to. I love this freedom, just like at home.
Now where to snooze? In the morning and into the afternoon the sun streams into the lounge and after an exhausting zoom around the beach, this is the perfect place to chill in the dog bed soaking up the rays.
Lunch arrives in the dog bowl found in the kitchen cupboard and then we’re off on a holiday adventure. There’s plenty to be had around the beaches and rocks on Wellington’s wild south coast. Sometimes after zoomies with the local dogs in the dog zone at the airport end of Lyall Bay beach, we sit in the sand and watch the planes coming and going from Wellington’s airport.
Some are headed for Australia or exotic Pacific Islands, but I wouldn’t swap for anything. This beach is my idea of doggie heaven.
At the end of the day, we head back to our Marram home away from home to enjoy a meal Murray whips up in the fully equipped kitchen. Honestly, nothing seems a problem in these well-appointed homes. That’s what Murray says anyway.
Sometimes we watch TV, sometimes I just watch Murray busy on the WiFi.
Then to bed. I’m not allowed on Murray’s bed of course, but to be honest I prefer to bring my own on holiday.
So that’s it, a day in my happy place. If you’re looking for a pet-friendly Marram home to enjoy some timeout with your dog, I thoroughly recommend Lyall Bay.
