Thanks to the hundreds of people who voted this year for their favourite holiday home. There wasn’t one home that didn’t get a mention, but in the end, it was Wanaka, closely followed by last year’s winner, Mt Maunganui, and in third place, Ohope Beach.
Congratulations to Nelson Tainui, who won the draw for the sought-after first prize of seven nights in a Marram home of choice and a $200 fuel voucher.
Nelson’s vote went to the Haururu Falls holiday home.
He wrote, “Close to Treaty Grounds, Paihia and access to Russell without being stuck in the hub bub of tourist locations. We used it as a base to visit whanau on both sides of the Hokianga, so got to enjoy a good bit of Northland while travelling. The place was spotless; amenities, as usual, were everything we needed, and it was a really enjoyable multigenerational stay.”
The winners of the five spot prizes of two nights in a Marram home and a $50 fuel voucher.
Sue Bennetts, who loved Haururu Falls, and talked of the access the home gives you to all the gems of the Far North.
Ketan Patel, who chose Ngaurimu Bay and was impressed by the magnificent view from the home’s big picture windows.
Beccy Warwick has a sentimental attachment to Hanmer Springs, a place where her kids learned to snap tea-towels while doing the dishes, making great family holiday memories.
Stewart Hunter talked about how the Kaiteriteri home helped heal his broken family after a bereavement. “Our loss was still raw, but somehow Kaiteriteri made those moments easier to carry. It gave us a chance to heal, laugh and reconnect again when we needed it most.”
Paul Emmett gave his vote to Whitianga, his favourite place in the world. So many happy memories here with my kids as pre-schoolers, and now as teenagers.
